Electoral college. a persuasive essay on reasons why the electoral college should be changed.

Whos balloting for the president? Not you. We live in a society where your vote

doesnt directly count during a presidential election. This is repayable to an antiquated

system called the electoral college. The electoral college (EC) was founded in 1787.

The founding fathers set up the system so that the president is chosen

indirectly. This was done so that customary passion, wouldnt factor in as much.

Basically they didnt want presidential campaigns to work purely advertisement

campaigns. (third party times)

But there are a around serious flaws in the electoral college that need to be dealt

with. For example, the considerably known Democratic motto one man, one vote, (which

means all vote counts) doesnt apply to presidential elections because of the EC.

The electoral college makes it possible for a scene who wins the prevalent vote of

the people to lose the presidency. (electoral college)

This has happened scarcely 3 times in the past. Once in 1876, and at one time in

1888, and most recently during the 2000 elections. President Bush lost the popular

vote to candidate Al Gore by over 500,000 votes. Bush soothe won the presidency

Lawrence P. Longley and Neal R. Pierce, two experts on the electoral college

I like this essay, because of you state not just the obvious mistakes of our democracy but you put by some radical ideas to change it that many of us have chosen to ignore, because of apathy. These ideas although well intentioned need to molded around work out the basic problem of our electoral system, which is the inaccracy of voting systems (Chads or computers), gage and standardization.

I think your essay was very well written. The vocab you put into it do it sound not like the normal person. It had some majuscule points and you brought awarness to other areas most dont see. Great job

clearly written. i think the electoral college should be taken away because it is a cause for elector apathy. also, it seems stupid that the college is called upon to elect the president when the difference in the popular vote already proves who should win. a general popular voting system would eliminate the EC for sure, but would not in reality represent the less populated states, but i dont feel for about them.
